About The Better Not Bigger Alliance

The Better Not Bigger Alliance is a statewide program dedicated to examining and promoting sustainable policies that ultimately lead to a better quality of life for all Massachusetts residents. The Better Not Bigger Alliance’s efforts are focused on three areas: sustainable energy policy, sustainable development strategies and sustainable economic policy. The adoption of sustainable strategies will lead to a better quality of life and a stronger Commonwealth. The benefits of sustainability include lower taxes, a cleaner environment, more affordable housing, more clean and alternative energy, less waste and a stronger, more stable economy.

The Better Not Bigger Alliance is a program of New England Coalition for Sustainable Population, Inc., a 501(c)3 charitable corporation.

The old and discredited ideology of limitless growth has led us to higher taxes, less affordable housing, the destruction of our suburbs and neglect of our urban neighborhoods. Massachusetts cannot simply grow forever; there are limits to growth and they must be effectively understood, analyzed and planned for. One of state government’s most vital roles is to protect the quality of life of Massachusetts residents. The Better Not Bigger Alliance provides policy research and recommendations to prevent unchecked physical growth that degrades everyone’s qualify of life.
